A century of guardianship, a timeless treasure. The 100th anniversary of the Palace Museum's founding marks a significant milestone in the advancement of Chinese culture and art, signaling that the preservation and continued narrative of China's cultural heritage has entered a new chapter. To honor this historic moment, PELLIOT, a high-performance outdoor lifestyle brand rooted in China, joined forces with "The World of the Palace" to host the grand "Hues of the Orient" collaborative collection launch and special event celebrating the Palace Museum's centennial in Beijing on October 10th. This occasion, using color as its medium to pay tribute to a century of imperial essence, unfolded precisely as the Palace Museum marked its 100-year anniversary—a convergence where Eastern heritage and the spirit of the outdoors met, crystallizing into a unique cultural resonance.

This collaborative collection, themed around "Hues of the Orient," weaves together the traditional color palette drawn from the treasures of the Forbidden City with PELLIOT's leading high-performance technical fabrics. It reimagines Eastern aesthetics within modern outdoor settings, breathing new vitality into timeless hues.

At the event, the collaborative collection made its debut. Drawing inspiration from the patterns, artifacts, calligraphy, paintings, and treasures within the Palace Museum's collection, PELLIOT seamlessly merges the exquisite textures of imperial craftsmanship with modern technical fabrics. Built upon high-performance features such as windproofing, waterproofing, and warmth retention, the collection integrates the form and color of Eastern aesthetics. From jackets and T-shirts to hiking boots, each piece takes the traditional color palette as its core design language, embodying both professional performance and cultural expression.
A PELLIOT product manager shared the creative vision at the scene: "At the heart of this collaboration lies the profound cultural imagery behind 'Oriental hues'—from the opulence of gold and cinnabar to the tranquility of mountain-indigo. Every color carries history and spirit within it. With technology as our foundation and culture as our soul, we hope to use apparel as a flowing medium to revive traditional colors in contemporary life, while infusing outdoor exploration with deeper cultural warmth."

Special guest: Yuan Hongqi, Palace Museum Research Fellow
Yuan Hongqi, a research fellow from the Palace Museum, was invited to the event to share her historical perspective on the contemporary resonance of traditional outdoor pursuits. Citing examples such as the Qing dynasty's "ice skiing" (Bingxi) and the "Autumn Hunt at Mulan" (Mulan Qiuxian), she observed that ancient China already emphasized the harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, with a focus on cultivating both physical vitality and spiritual well-being. She noted that this collaboration continues that legacy, weaving the natural colors and cultural motifs of the Forbidden City into modern equipment—allowing ancient wisdom to find new expression in today's world.

Lin Jing, Actress
Lin Jing, speaking from the perspective of an outdoor enthusiast, shared her insights on the integration of traditional culture and modern lifestyles, drawing from her own experiences in hiking and camping. She expressed that being in nature not only helps her unwind but also adds a sense of ritual to life—and having professional gear that combines performance with aesthetics makes exploration all the more empowering. "This collaboration brings together technical excellence and cultural elements," she noted, "offering young people a freer way of living—one that lets them explore the wild while also experiencing culture and beauty in their everyday lives."

Beyond the product launch, PELLIOT created an immersive interactive space themed around the collection, inviting guests to experience the beauty of Eastern colors through hands-on activities like "Mountain & Sea Poet" poetry collages and traditional Chinese pattern DIY workshops. A dedicated display zone featuring looks from the brand's global ambassador Cheng Yi also drew crowds—with its striking backdrop blending red palace walls, imperial lanterns, and snow-capped peaks, seamlessly fusing Forbidden City elements, outdoor scenes, and Eastern aesthetics into a visual highlight of the event.
As a high-performance outdoor lifestyle brand rooted in China, PELLIOT is committed to exploring the deep connections between culture and nature. From mountain expeditions to urban outdoor living, from extreme-performance technology to Eastern aesthetics, the brand embraces a philosophy that makes culture wearable, walkable, and ready for the wild—with technical gear as the medium and cultural meaning woven in.
